What does AC installation include?

The first step is to select an appropriately sized AC based on the cooling load of your home, which takes into account the size of the area being cooled, its insulation, and other factors. Our technicians will ensure that you choose a unit that is properly sized to handle the most searing summer temperatures.

Next, your technician will prepare the area for the installation. We’ll remove the existing indoor system and outdoor condenser using proper safety standards to extract the refrigerant.
The installation of the indoor unit includes the evaporator coil, blower, and air filter. This part of the system is usually located in your attic, basement, or crawlspace. The outdoor unit will be installed next, which includes the compressor, condenser, and refrigerant lines. We’ll also ensure that the ground is properly leveled to absorb vibrations, reduce noise, and protect the longevity of your new A/C.

After the units are installed, the technician will connect the refrigerant lines and electrical wiring, then perform a vacuum test to ensure there are no leaks. Finally, the system will be charged with refrigerant and tested to ensure it is operating correctly.

Can I just replace my outside A/C unit?

We highly recommend replacing both the outdoor and indoor units of your split system at the same time. One of the major reasons for this is that many older indoor units aren’t compatible with their modern outdoor counterparts. Air conditioners older than about 10 years use R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer being produced in the United States.

Modern air conditioners use 410A refrigerant instead, and the two can’t be mixed.
Even if both systems use the same refrigerant, mismatched units can lead to other serious problems. Newer components tend to have higher SEER ratings (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios), and if both units don’t have the same rating, you can run into issues such as poor efficiency, higher energy bills, faster wear and tear on components, and less effective cooling.
