These are the most common questions that we get asked from our customers.
What is a Sewer Camera Inspection?
During a camera inspection, our professional plumbers will guide a specialized camera down your drains to get an inside view of your drains, pipes, and main sewer lines.
The camera provides us with a real-time video feed, and the head has a locator which allows us to pinpoint the problem area. This allows us both to make a plan for repairs and quote an accurate price.
What is Hydrostatic Testing?
A hydrostatic pressure test is the primary test for a sewer line system. We place a rubber test balloon in the line, creating a known stoppage point.
From there, we fill the system under the home with water and subject it to pressure. We mark a specific point, either in the cleanout or the tub/shower, and then wait for 20 minutes. The water should maintain that set level. Failure to hold and maintain that same level would require the test to be repeated to validate accuracy.
If the test fails, then we typically follow up with a video inspection using a sewer camera. This allows us to look for obvious signs of failures such as root infiltration, mud, bad fittings, sewer line bellies, etc.
Why is it Called Smoke Testing?
The process is called smoke testing because the substance we use to test for leaks looks like dense white smoke.
However, a more accurate description would be vapor. The substance is safe for both commercial and residential use.
