What is Whole-Home Repiping

As a homeowner, you’re probably used to the occasional fixture replacement or pipe repair in your home. However, just maintaining and repairing plumbing where you can will only get you so far. Eventually, all the original plumbing in your home will need to be replaced. Don’t panic!

Earl’s Plumbing is here to give you all the information you need on whole-home repiping so that you know when and why your home should be repiped. This isn’t a project we throw around lightly, but there are serious health risks and catastrophic plumbing repairs that can occur from failing pipes. Read on to learn more about home repiping in Frisco.

When Does My Home Need To Be Repiped?

Luckily, repiping the entire home is not a task that needs to be done every few years! This project applies to homes built several decades ago with the original plumbing installed at that time. 30, 40 or 50 years ago, plumbers didn’t have the same regulations or even use the same materials we do today. This is why older homes are the prime candidates for whole-home repiping. Finding out the age of your home is the first step to establishing the health of your plumbing.

Next, you want to look out for the following signs:

  • Frequent pipe repairs
  • Poor water quality
  • Serious water leaks
  • Strange sounds in the plumbing
  • High water bills
  • Pipe material

If you’re having to repair your pipes frequently or you notice other signs of deterioration that are affecting your water, it’s time to consider repiping your home. Older pipe materials can even be toxic as they deteriorate and your home could be vulnerable to catastrophic leaks that damage the structural integrity of your house. You never want to wait until it’s too late to take preventive measures. Call on our team of repipe specialists  if you suspect your plumbing is in need of repiping!

How Does Repiping Work?

When you hear “whole-home repiping”, you may envision a nightmare of tearing out your walls and removing all the pipes in your home. Luckily, Earl’s Plumbing uses modern processes to replace your plumbing with as little disruption to your home as possible. While we do have to cut into your walls to access your pipes, we only make small incisions — and we try to hide these behind cabinets or in low-visibility areas.

Once we have access to the plumbing, we run new lines throughout your entire home. This way, we don’t have to remove all of your plumbing, we just bypass it. This process can take a few days depending on how large your home is and how much plumbing there is to replace.

It’s important to note that repiping requires the water for the entire home to be shut off. Repiping projects can take anywhere from two or three days to five or six, and that’s just on average. It’s a good idea to have an alternate place to stay during your repipe for comfort and availability of water. You can speak with your plumbing expert in more detail about your project’s timeline and what that means for your home!

Repiping Done Right

It’s not enough to have any ol’ plumber show up for a whole-home repipe. You need a team you can trust to treat your home with respect and attention to detail. Replacing the plumbing in your home should set you up for 50 to 100 more years! That’s why you need Earl’s Plumbing to get the job done right. Give us a call to schedule repiping services today!
